Shri Surya Yantra: A Cosmic Tool To Attract Radiance, Success & Divine Light

When you wake up in the morning, the first flash you get is the flash of sunlight, which is none other than Surya Devta, the Sun God. The Sun God gives us natural light and fills our void with bloom, light, and happiness.

The divine light that enhances our health and brings us inner enlightenment is the sacred effect of Surya Devta. Call it a divine blessing, a spark of energy that encourages us to keep going, or simply a power that heals us and nurtures our well-being and uplift!

    Who is Surya Devta?

In the ancient Vedas, Surya Devta is described as the eye of God and the soul of the universe. He is considered one of the 33 crore deities worshipped in Hinduism and holds a great place among the nine planets. We refer to Surya Devta by various names, including Bhaskar, Aditya, Dinkar, Ravi, Bhanu, and others. The divine chariot of Surya Dev is drawn by the celestial horses when Surya Devta takes on a journey around the universe.

    Shri Surya Yantra

For the worship of Surya Devta, you must chant the Gayatri mantra, as it is closely associated with the Surya Devta bhakti. The Sun God is revered as Brahma in the morning, Shiva during the noon time, and Vishnu in the evening. Surya Devta is also one of the primary members in Panchayatana (the five major sects that are dedicated to Ganesha, Shiva, Vishnu, Devi, and Surya).

    The Mythological Significance and Story

In the Rigveda, Surya is considered the “Eye of the Gods,” which means Deva Chakshu, and the one who watches every action. The Sun God riding on the chariot of seven horses represents:

    1. The seven days of the week
    2. The seven chakras in the human body
    3. The seven colors of sunlight (VIBGYOR)

The seven colors represent 7 horses pulling the Sun God, the chariot having 7 colors: red for anger, green for envy, blue for grief, violet for realization, and so on.

Mythology also says that Surya is a great healer, too. His sons are the Ashwini Kumaras, who are celestial healers. So, worshipping Surya Devta heals everything from skin diseases to eye ailments and also helps in restoring energy and vitality. The ritual of offering Arghaya (water offering) to the Sun God in the morning is considered a divine way to purify one’s mind and body.

One healing story is also associated with Samba, who is the son of Lord Krishna. Samba suffered from leprosy, and no cure was found to heal Samba. However, the son of Lord Krishna worshipped Surya, and as a result, Surya Devta completely healed Samba from his ailment. In gratitude today, a famous temple is also built at Konark, Odisha, with the name Sun Temple, which stands as a symbol of Surya’s divine grace.

    How Was Surya Dev Born?

The Primordial Creator of the Universe, The Lord Brahma, gave birth to Kashyapa, the mighty sage. Kashyapa was one of the most revered Saptarishis and was blessed with the duty to expand creation.

Sage Kashyapa married Aditi, the daughter of Daksha Prajapati. As per the ancient texts, it is said that Devas were once defeated by the Asuras, and on this, Aditi prayed for a powerful son to be born who would protect her other children. So, to them, the Lord Surya was born with great radiance. He is one of the other divine sons of Aditi and Kashyapa.

Lord Surya is the eternal deity who exists from the very beginning of time, and his birth is celebrated on the Hindu festival of Radha Saptami, which is on the seventh day of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Magha. It is also said that Lord Surya is also known by the name “Aaditya,” as he was present at the very beginning of creation, called “Aadi.”

The Radiant Presence of Surya Devta

People often refer to Surya Devta as the giver of light, the one deity that blooms their world with spiritual awakening and confidence. But not only this, along with shining up the whole universe and providing light to people, it also offers a healthy life to individuals. The Surya God brings the cosmos into order and blesses it with good beginnings. People get a spiritual understanding and get rid of ignorance when they worship the Sun God.

The daily worship of the Sun when it comes up is like you are getting a holy gesture from the universe in the morning as a message to renew your life and your inner will to keep going. The Sun God acts as a holistic elixir to the body and also calms the mind and soul. It’s like a mood enhancement through serotonin release. That’s why people always start their morning by offering Jal to Surya Devta, so that they keep receiving the divine Sun God's blessings and can avail the holy benefits of Surya worship.

    Shri Surya Yantra

Surya Dev is one among the Navgrahas, which we see in Vedic astrology. The identity is not just limited to being a planet only, but it’s one of the forms of the Supreme Being, Lord Vishnu, which is said in the Bhagavad Gita’s 10th chapter, Verse 21.

    "आदित्यानामहं विष्णुर्ज्योतिषां रविरंशुमान्।
    मरीचिर्मरुतामस्मि नक्षत्राणामहं शशी॥"

It means, among luminous objects, I am Surya.

People also keep the Shri Surya yantra at home, which is the symbolism of the Sun God. The Surya yantra helps connect the people with the supreme Brahma, attaining higher consciousness. The yantra is a sacred geometric tool that channels the positive traits of the Sun within oneself.

The people who are always eager to seek success early, want a government job, get fame, or suffer from low self-esteem must have this yantra. The yantra helps gain the qualities of leadership, good communication, good health, and confidence in oneself.

    2. Regular worship helps strengthen inner willpower, charisma, and decision-making ability, which makes the Sun strong in one’s Kundali.
    3. Surya provides Prana Shakti, and the yantra radiates this energy into oneself.
