Sacred Tips To Make Your Ekadashi Fast Fulfilled

Having the right intent, pure devotion, bathing with holy water and eating only the Ekadashi-friendly food are some general rules. But what about the most important things to keep in mind for making the Ekadashi vrat completed rightly and as per the holy scriptures. Don’t worry, we are here to guide you with that, so let’s watch out:

    1. Plan the Meal You Would Take

What you are going to eat on the day, is one of the most crucial thing to notice. So, make a plan about it, so that you might commit any mistake related to this. Note that only the satvic food is consumed on this day.

You can eat fruits, nuts, boiled vegetables, sabudana, sweet potatoes and dairy. No grains, beans, onion, garlic are taken. The fast is then broken the next day called as Dwadashi by eating only the light and easily digestable food.

    2. Avoid Being Negative

How could a vrat truly contemplated when you are negative in your thoughts or talk back about someone. When you are truly connected with the almighty, you refrain from negative things so as to cleanse your intentions. You must always avoid:

    • Gossip
    • Violence or negative media
    • Excessice screen usage

    Replace these things with:

    • Bhakti, Pooja and devotion
    • Helping Others
    • Listening devotional music
    • Spending time in nature
    • Doing spiritual talks
    • Watching spiritual shows
    • Doing spiritual activities like meditating

    3. Rest, Don’t Rush

Ekadashi is not about filling the restless emotions in you which make you feel anxious. It’s about putting the calm in your soul. On this day, avoid strenous tasks that drain your body, mind and soul as it’s the time for inner reflection and awareness. Take nap for recharge and revival as your body and soul is resetting this time.

One thing to note here is that if you cannot observe the full fast, you can simply keep partial fast this day or the fruit-only fast for becoming spiritual and to feel connected with the divine.

    4. Just Chant

Chanting is an emotion, deep core one. Chant Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna mantras as you breathe! Such as “Hare Krishna”. You can also wear Tulsi bracelet to level up the vibrations spreading around. Chant out loud not in mind so that the universe listens to your true intentions and the beloved Krishna hears your voice. This will be the time when you will feel goosebumps and the presence of divine energy surrounding you.

    5. Donate

During Ekadashi fast, do the act which makes your Lord happy and it’s helping the needy. Just donate anything to the people and animals. On Dwadashi, offer a prayer before you have something, express gratitude and then conclude the vrat with a small act of kindness which is donating food, feeding animals and helping someone in need.

    6. Refrain From Intimacy, Non-vegeterian Food & Alcohol

Ekadashi is about purity, making your soul cleansed. So, don’t indulge in the act of intimacy, eating the non-vegeterian stuff or consuming alcohol. It would be a unfavorable act to be done this day. In fact, people who are Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu ji devotees never feed on such things and stay pure and devoted towards the spiritual path.

    Final Reflection

Embrace the true spiritually which comes from following the right things not just by simply performing the rituals. Your vrat is considered sacred when you observe it by keeping the right intentions, doing good for others and with each fast, you will feel like your body is on a spiritual reset and you are connecting with the divine universe.
