It is another auspicious day falls on Ekadashi Tithi (Eleventh day). This Ekadashi falls in the month of November- December according to English calendar. As per Hindu calendar it is observed in the month of Margashirsha during dark fortnight (Krishna pakash). Utpanna Ekadashi is also called as Utpatti Ekadashi. Similar to other Ekadashi’s this day of Utpanna Ekadashi is also dedicated to Lord Vishu and Mata Ekadashi. This Ekadashi is observed to attain the Moksha or salivation.

History of Utpanna Ekadashi

Utpanna Ekadashiis related to Lord Vishnu bulldozing demon Murasura. It is also assumed that Maa Ekadashi took birth on this day. While Lord Vishnu was in sleep the demon Mura thought to kill the Lord, then the Goddess Ekadashi took birth to overcome the situation and killed the demon. Lord Vishnu was thankful to the Goddess and highly grateful to her for the immense devotion and courage towards the lord. After that the Lord blessed the Goddess whoever observes this day of Ekadashi will get step closer to the salivation or Moksha. Since the day devotes keep fast of Utpanna Ekadashi to attain salivation.

How to perform Utpanna Ekadashi Vrat?

On this very day, devotees worship to Mata Ekadashi and Lord Vishnu. Ekadashi fast is performed to please the Lord and getting their blessings. Fast is performed from early morning or sunrise on the day of Ekadashi to the next morning or Dwadashi. It is also a ritual of Utpanna Ekadashi to worship God Krishna during Brihma mahurat. Doing donations to the needy and poor is also a part of Utpanna Ekadashi vrat.

It is assumed that if the devotes made donation of food, grains, vegetables, clothes, blanket and other material to the needy or poor than Lord Vishnu bless them. Keeping fast on this very day of Utpanna Ekadashi and making donation to need brings the devotees a step closer to salivation.
