What Does Lord Shiva Like the Most: A Journey To The Heart of Mahadev

“Shiv Ko Shraddha Chaiye Shringaar Nahi.”

Lord Shiva, the almighty, the preserver, destroyer, and protector of the universe, is Bhola and a God who is very kind and compassionate. The journey to his heart is straightforward, as he asks for just simple, true devotion, love, and nothing else.

Lord Shiva - The Ashutosh, The Bholenath

Lord Shiva is Ashutosh, which means easily pleased and doesn’t demand perfection, but pure intention. He is a Bhola, the innocent Lord, who can shower every blessing on you if you are true at heart.

The stories from Shiv Purana and Ramayana also show that Lord Shiva granted boons even to demons as well without any discrimination. This is why he is called Bholenath.

Ever feel goosebumps when you listen to Lord Shiva aarti or when you worship him? Then it means you are loved and chosen by Lord Shiva, and you can become his true devotee.

Lord Shiva lets you feel what the true meaning of life is and what one must do. Here in this blog, let’s delve into knowing what Lord Shiva likes the most if you want to be his true and forever devotee:

    1. Simplicity

Lord Shiva is the God who likes simplicity, purity, and not grand offerings. The one who feels an inner connection with Lord Shiva and walks on the path of integrity and righteousness can truly be a Shiva Bhakt.

He lives in his abode, Mount Kailash, which is silent, pure, and away from the chaos of the world. The Rudraksha Mala is worn around his neck, made from the sacred seeds of the Rudraksha tree.

The way to his heart is when you speak to him like a friend, being honest, open, and simple.

    2. Bel Patra

If you are a true Shiva Bhakt, then you might know that Lord Shiva likes Bel Patra. It’s a three-leafed bel leaf, which, when offered with devotion to Lord Shiva, helps wash away lifetimes of sin.

The three faces represent Trimurti—Brahma (creation), Vishnu (preservation), and Shiva (destruction).

    3. Chanting Through the Soul

When chanting the Lord Shiva mantras, if you intend to connect with him, then it can only be done when you chant Lord Shiva mantras with your heart, “ॐ नमः शिवाय”.

Say, I bow to Shiva and take a deep breath and say out loud… Om…Na…Mah…Shi…Va…Ya…. The air will be filled with divine vibrations and love. Lord Shiva will be drawn to your voice, and you will feel connected with him.

    4. Abhishekam - The Celestial Bath

During the Somvaar Puja or on the Shivratri, people do Shiva Abhishekam, which means giving a bath to the Shivling with milk, water, honey, and curd. It’s itself very calming and helps you feel serene inside.

Doing Abhishekam blesses you with inner healing and helps you attain clarity and consciousness in life. Your mind melts with each single drop when you do abhishekam.

    5. Coconut & Coconut Water

Offering a coconut to Lord Shiva means you are destroying the pride and ego inside. Yes. Coconut has a hard shell outside, which is removed to reveal the sweet fruit within. It reminds the person to let go of ego and become self-aware and humble.

    6. Mithi Choori

Mithi Choori, made with wheat flour, is also liked by Lord Shiva. During the 16 somwar vrat udhyapan, we do offer mithi choori as a sweet to Lord Shiva, which is made with love and purity.

It’s because Lord Shiva likes it as it is a pure satvik bhog for him, made with wholesome ingredients like wheat, jaggery, and ghee for nourishment.

    Final Thoughts

So, if we break it down to just one thing that Lord Shiva loves, then it is being real and authentic. He is the God of love, destruction, rebirth, silence, and dance as well. But above all, you can say Lord Shiva loves truth.

Therefore, if you are a simple person living a Satvik life or a person who loves to reside in the Himalayas, if your heart and intentions are pure, then you are loved by Lord Shiva.
