A 14 mukhi rudraksha has fourteen natural lines (mukhi) running from the top of the bead to the bottom. In the tradition it is associated with Lord Hanuman, and it is also called Deva Mani, and in Jyotish with Shani (Saturn). This collection brings together Pandit.com's 14 mukhi beads from Nepal and Indonesia, each checked under Pt. Rahul Kaushl before dispatch, with the origin stated on every product.

14 mukhi rudraksha in the tradition

The Shiva Purana describes rudraksha from one to fourteen faces and links each to a deity. The 14 mukhi bead belongs to Lord Hanuman, and it is also called Deva Mani. Fourteen mukhi is the highest bead named in the classical lists and is valued as a rare and powerful bead. See the Shani remedies for other remedies of Shani.

Who chooses a 14 mukhi rudraksha

It is traditionally chosen for:

  • intuition and sound decisions
  • protection
  • steadiness during Shani periods

In Jyotish it is chosen when Shani needs support in the birth chart. It is often worn alone or in a siddha combination. For a bead matched to your chart, consult Pt. Rahul Kaushl.

Nepal or Indonesia: how to choose

Nepal Indonesia
Size Larger bead Smaller, lighter bead
Lines Deep and well defined Finer, closer together
Price Higher More affordable
Best for Puja, a siddha combination, a single bead worn as a pendant Daily wear, bracelets and malas

Both are seeds of the same tree, Elaeocarpus ganitrus. Choose by budget and by how you will wear the bead.

How to wear a 14 mukhi rudraksha

  1. Choose a Monday morning, after bathing.
  2. Wash the bead in clean water or Ganga jal and place it before an image of Lord Shiva.
  3. Chant Om Namah Shivaya 108 times, or the beej mantra given on the product page.
  4. Wear it in a red or black silk thread, a wool thread, or capped in silver or gold, so that it touches the skin.
  5. Remove it before bathing with soap, and oil it lightly with sandalwood or mustard oil every few months.

How to check that a rudraksha is genuine

  • The lines should run from end to end without breaks, and should not look carved.
  • An X-ray shows the seed compartments inside the bead; their number matches the number of mukhi.
  • Buy with a lab certificate. Floating, sinking and copper-coin tests are not reliable.
